Along with pumpkin patches, Oklahoma residents also look forward to blooming sunflower fields in the fall. Oklahoma has four native sunflowers that bloom anywhere from late summer and into fall. And Oklahoma offers several sunflower fields for residents to enjoy one of Oklahoma's brightest flowers.

According to the Oklahoma State University Natural Resources Extension, Oklahoma has four different types of sunflowers. The tall, big sunflowers most people are familiar with are Oklahoma's Annual Sunflower, other variants include the Maximillian Sunflower, Ashy Sunflower and the Plains Sunflower.

Each sunflower is slightly different than the other and can be found either all across Oklahoma or in certain portions of the state, but they all have the distinctive bright yellow color. Some of the sunflowers have already began to bloom. By the time fall arrives, Oklahoma will be bright with yellow sunflowers and orange pumpkins.
