Oklahoma Could See Nearly 3 Inches Of Snow Next Week
If your perfect day in Oklahoma includes 60-degree temperatures, then you'll want to enjoy them before Oklahoma's next cold front comes through next week and it could bring snow with it.
Daytime highs in Oklahoma will hover well above average until a cold front arrives on Tuesday, Dec. 17. After the cold front, Oklahoma's daytime highs will be well below average. And if snow does come with the cold front, most of Oklahoma could see temperatures from 1 to 3 inches by Friday, Dec. 20.
Earlier this week, KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan began hinting at winter weather for Oklahoma the week before Oklahoma. Whether that includes snow is still up in the air, but if snow does come, then it will start in western Oklahoma and make its way east.
Morgan's future track forecast on Tuesday, Dec. 10 indicated snow statewide, anywhere from 1 to 3 inches. Morgan stated that the future track is over a week out and could easily disappear from monitors as we get into next week, but there is still a chance.
Even if snow doesn't come, it will still be cold in Oklahoma next week. There's also strong chances of thunderstorms and showers this weekend and into next week.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, Morgan issued another update regarding next week's winter weather, stating that it's not "locked in yet" but "it could get out of hand."
Even the Oklahoma Mesonet agrees that Oklahoma's weather has been too quiet recently and that something is cooking for the last week of the year.
So if you're starting your holiday travels the week before Christmas, you will definitely want to remain weather aware!
