Heavy Rain Could Impact Thanksgiving Travel In Oklahoma

We're two weeks out from Thanksgiving, so people are getting their shopping lists ready and dinner plans finalized. But Oklahoma residents will also want to keep and eye on the forecast as a big soaker is heading to the state and it could impact holiday travel.

Oklahoma meteorologists have been talking about Oklahoma shifting towards a stormy weather pattern, which is set to start this weekend. Oklahoma could see at least two to three weeks of rain and possible severe weather.

The NOAA's six to 10 day precipitation outlook is anticipating above average precipitation for most of Oklahoma leading up to Thanksgiving.

Could Oklahoma see snow on Thanksgiving this year?

Increased precipitation doesn't always mean rain. If Oklahoma gets another strong cold front like it did earlier this week, it's highly possible that the state could see snow with the increased precipitation.

KFOR Meteorologist Mike Morgan has already hinted at the possibility of snow in Oklahoma this month, particularly in the panhandle and in the western and central parts of the state.

Wind chills could be in the single-digits in Oklahoma after Thanksgiving.

As for snow on Thanksgiving, it's still too far out to tell. But it does look like Oklahoma could receive another strong arctic blast around the holiday. Morgan recently looked into the wind chills for the Friday after Thanksgiving, and parts of the state could see single-digit wind chills.

Oklahoma residents encouraged to stay weather aware during the holidays.
