Celebrate Summer With Thrilling Rodeos All Around Southwest Oklahoma

Summer is almost upon us, and summer in Oklahoma means it's rodeo time! Southwest Oklahoma is home to some of the best annual rodeos in the state.

Southwest Oklahoma residents can attend a different rodeo just about every weekend in July and August. Some of the rodeos have been an annual event for several decades!

I love attending rodeos in southwest Oklahoma! I've attended rodeos to watch family compete, just for pleasure, and I've even had the pleasure to serve as an announcer for some of southwest Oklahoma's local rodeos! Attending rodeos is one of my favorite parts about summer in southwest Oklahoma.

Walters Round Up Club Rodeo - July 16, 17, and 18 - Walters, Oklahoma

This year's Walters Round Up Club Rodeo will take place July 16, 17, and 18 at the Walters Rodeo Grounds. More information about the rodeo will be posted to the Walters Round Up Club Facebook group page.

Cyril Rodeo - July 16 and 17 - Cyril, Oklahoma

Cyril's annual rodeo will take place July 16 and 17. The annual rodeo is hosted by the Cyril Round Up Club. The club is currently seeking vendors for this year's rodeo. More information about the Cyril Rodeo will be made to the club's official Facebook page.

Great Plains Stampede Rodeo - Fourth Weekend In August - Altus, Oklahoma

The Great Plains Stampede Rodeo is an annual PRCA rodeo hosted by a local nonprofit in Altus. The rodeo takes place every year during the fourth weekend in August at the Great Plains Stampede Arena in Altus. More details about the rodeo will be made to the rodeo's official Facebook page.

Elgin Rodeo - Second Weekend In August - Elgin, Oklahoma

Elgin hosted the towns first annual open rodeo in 2010 at the town's new arena, the Trent McIntotosh Memorial Rodeo Arena. The rodeo typically takes place the second weekend in August, and is hosted by the Elgin Rodeo Association. Lawton Rangers Rodeo - August 5-8 - Lawton, Oklahoma

The 88th annual Lawton Rangers Rodeo will take place August 5-8 at the LO Ranch, southeast of Lawton. The annual Lawton Rangers Rodeo is always the town's final event of the summer!
