Seth Ennis has announced his engagement, and he's sharing the story behind his proposal in a new song that he posted online titled "Xmas."

The Georgia-raised county singer-songwriter turned to Instagram on Dec. 23 to share a snippet of the new song, accompanying it by simply writing, "She said yes."

The lyrics to the romantic pop-country ballad detail how he planned for a year in advance to ask his love to marry him at Christmas, beginning with a man-to-man chat with her father the previous holiday season.

"I bet you didn't know at Christmas / I was talkin' to your daddy / I told him me and you are in love / And I just wanna make you happy / Forever and ever, keep loving you better, and never give up or leave / Baby, next Christmas I'm gonna ask you to marry me," he sings to begin the love song, which then carries forward as he struggles to keep his big plans a secret over the course of the next year.

In a case of life imitating art (or is that art imitating life?), Ennis posted a picture of himself and his girlfriend — now fiancee — Janna Nevil on Wednesday (Dec. 26), joyously celebrating with champagne glasses.

"Merry Christmas from the future Ennis’," he writes to accompany the pic. "Peep the link in my bio if u wanna hear the story." The link leads to the full version of "Xmas," which you can listen to by clicking on the video at the top of the post.

Ennis moved to Nashville in 2013 and established himself as a writer, scoring a cut with Tyler Farr, "Our Town," in 2016. That same year he released his debut single, "Woke Up in Nashville," and he released an EP, Mabelle, in 2017 via Arista Nashville. Ennis opened for Little Big Town on the UK leg of their Breakers Tour in 2017, and they lend their signature harmonies to his latest single, "Call Your Mama," which is the first song we've heard from a project that is to be announced.
