Summertime and the movies. They go hand in hand just as much as peanut butter and jelly. There have been so many movies over the years that are released in the summertime which has given and will continue to give people the opportunity to make even more memories.

I happen to be looking online for an old movie I wanted to see (again) and came across a list of Summertime movies. I looked at the list several times and did see some that sparked a few memories of summers past. How many do you remember and do you have any distinct memories of the summer you saw it?

Blue Lagoon. June of 1980 it rolled into theatres and drive in theatres all across the United States. The film tells the story of two young children marooned on a tropical island paradise in the South Pacific. With neither the guidance nor the restrictions of society, emotional feelings and physical changes arise as they reach puberty and fall in love. Of course any teen boy wanted to see Brooke Shields.

10. Even though it came out after the summer of 79, it still was a beach movie and Bo Derek was the item at the time. And again this was a movie that sparked a lot of memories for lots of teen boys (and older men).

Caddyshack. Who didn't come away from that movie with thoughts of how to spend their summer? How many people wanted to be caddy if just for one summer? Spending endless days on the course making a buck or two on the side.

Meatballs. Who went to summer camp and dreaded it at the beginning? Camp was always the highlight of my summer and started counting down the days to camp on January 1st. Just the fast pace that was going on at Camp North Star was enough to make you wonder what was next! And who did not want to have a camp director like Tripper Harrison (Bill Murray)? How many memories do you think you could have if he was your camp director?

Finally, where were you in '62? How many times did you hear that in the commercial for the one I think is the best movie to make a summer memory. American Graffitti. Lots of memories from that one movie that sparked an entire generation or two to enjoy the summertime and to make even more memories to pass on.

Which movies have made memories for you?
