The Outlaws Released – Today In Country Music History [VIDEO]
January 12th, 1976
Country’s first platinum album, Wanted: The Outlaws, was released. Featuring Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Jessi Colter, and Tompall Glaser, the album released two singles: "Suspicious Minds" (#2) and "Good Hearted Woman." (#1), both featuring Jennings.
In 1984, this album was among the first to be issued on CD by RCA Records. The album quickly reached #1 on the country charts and peaked at #10 on the pop charts.
In 1988, an abridged version of this album was released on CD, omitting Waylon & Jessi's "Suspicious Minds", Tompall Glaser's "Put Another Log On The Fire" and Waylon's "Honky Tonk Heroes". The reasons for the deletions are unknown to this day.
Wanted! The Outlaws was reissued on CD on RCA Records in 1996 not only with all 11 original tracks restored but augmented with ten bonus tracks. Only one of these, Steve Earle's "Nowhere Road", had previously been unreleased.

Martina McBride’s album Martina was certified platinum. The album featured four singles: "This One's for the Girls" (#3), "In My Daughter's Eyes" (#4), "How Far" (#12) and "God's Will" (#16).
