‘The Voice': Kameron Marlowe Wins Slot on Team Blake With Luke Combs Cover
The Voice's Season 15 kicked off Monday night (Sept. 24) tonight, featuring coaches Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton. While the night provided the usual multi-genre mix of talent, country music was well represented—resulting in the expected battles between Clarkson and Shelton to nab the best of the best.
One of those standouts was Kameron Marlowe, a 21-year-old powerhouse vocalist from North Carolina who—despite a deceptively baby-faced visage—managed to blow things through the roof with a totally assured, sexy, and rockin' cover of Luke Combs' "One Number Away." This singer clearly had what it takes to handle the yearning composition, causing both Shelton and Clarkson to hit their buttons.
Levine expressed regret at not turning his chair, but conceded that he knew he didn't have a chance—which Marlowe confirmed with a simple "no." Levine then proceeded to advocate Shelton in his stead.
Although Hudson admonished a belligerent Clarkson "this is handled," Clarkson still begged, "Don't do it!" Alas for her, Marlowe had his mind made up likely ahead of time, and went for Shelton.
