I don't know about you, but I enjoy fishing. Like, I really enjoy fishing. Not so much the sit and wait for something to bite type a person might do at Lake Helen, but hiking through the mountain lakes in search of mercury-ridden big bass is a great way to spend a day.

During the work week, especially this time of year, it's hard to get out to those lakes. Luckily, there's a small fishery at Elmer Thomas Park. Pretty sure it's primarily packed with channel catfish and sunfish, but you take the good with the bad.

Last time I was out there, I noticed a mallard walking around wrapped up in fishing line. Upon closer inspection, this poor dude has swallowed someones bait, terminal tackle and all. I can't help but think sportsmen and outdoorsmen can do better. Whether this was something left out on the bank, or someone accidentally lured a duck to snatch a line, I can't believe someone would just cut lines and walk away.

Now I'm not fan of social justice and the digital melee that comes with it, so I'll give this person the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps the angler did contact someone and were advised to just cut it free. Maybe the Wildlife Department or city parks department plans on doing something. Whether it be fixing this critter up or putting it humanely out of its misery...
