It was one of the most exciting basketball games you will ever see, well that is if you love offense and don't like defense. On Sunday night, during the 2012 NBA All Star Game, the best basketball players gathered in Orlando Florida for some high flying and dunking fun that saw. The rest of us, who watch the event had the chance to see some hideous uniforms, Kobe Bryant broke his nose while setting a new all time scoring record, held formally by Michael Jordan. But the excitement of the night didn’t stop there, the Oklahoma City Thunder golden boy, Kevin Durant, walked away with the MVP trophy.

Durant had 36 and seven rebounds in an MVP performance, as the Western Conference’s beat the Eastern Conference 152-149 in the 2012 NBA All Star Game Sunday night in Orlando.

The always quite and humble Durant said about his MVP performance  "It’s just exciting to be named an All-Star, but to step it up another level and become MVP, it’s only something as a kid you dream about”. “Coming from where I come from, I didn’t think I would be here. Everything is just a blessing to me.”

Durant was on fire early in the 2012 All Star classic with a scoring barrage that included jump shots, slashing layups and dunks to help the West open a 21-point lead.  Durant said there was no special method to how he approached the game, but said he and Oklahoma City Thunder and West Conference Coach Scott Brooks did have a discussion back in Oklahoma City where Durant let Coach Brooks know he didn’t mind playing the entire game if that is what it took for the Western Conference to win.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbook was also selected to the 2012 Western Conference All Star team and like teammate Kevin Durant , Westbook also turned in a great game with 21 points and and 5 rebounds.
