
Winter Weather Expected to Make a Return to Oklahoma
Oklahoma set record high temperatures on Monday, Feb. 3, and after a cold front, most of the state is seeing a 20 degree difference in temperatures. But this week's warm up and cool down is only the start of winter's return. Local meteorologists are expecting Oklahoma to receive a bout of winter weather the middle of February.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma's eight to 14 day outlook is putting Oklahoma at an increasing chance for above-average precipitation and below-normal temperatures. A colder pattern is appearing to be more likely in Oklahoma next week after this week's fake spring.
Pleasant conditions expected in Oklahoma before winter returns.
After Tuesday's cold front, Oklahoma is expected to have pleasant temperatures before winter weather returns next week. Daytime highs could reach the 80s on Wednesday, Feb. 4. A cold front is expected to arrive Thursday and could bring daytime temperatures down to the 60s for Friday and Saturday.
Daytime temperatures will start to dip to below average on Super Bowl Sunday and overnight lows will return to near or below freezing Sunday and Monday.
Snow possible before Valentine's Day in Oklahoma.
Many local meteorologists are suggesting Oklahoma could get snow or some kind of frozen precipitation before Valentine's Day. Most are keeping a tight lip on what's to expect since it's still too far out. But they all expect some kind of winter precipitation to return to Oklahoma.
According to KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan, snow chances are continuing to go up for Oklahoma next week. He's expecting snow on Tuesday, Feb. 11 and Wednesday, Feb. 13.
In the Feb. 4 ticker, the Oklahoma Mesonet indicated that there is a chance for frozen precipitation sometime next week, but again, it's still too far out to confirm.
Texoma Weather Lab's Austin Bowling is also seeing hints at wintry weather for southwest Oklahoma by the middle of February. As of Monday, Feb. 3, Bowling states that he'll be monitoring on the development of winter weather.
