It's Thursday, and as per tradition we have a return trip from an up-and-coming singer and songwriter from Texas, who has taken the traditions of the country music she grew up with and added grace, elegance and country style to her music, giving us one of the best things to come out of the Lone Star State since five-alarm chili.

Growing up on her parents’ ranch, Macy Martin’s earliest musical memories date back to age 6, entertaining for the Miss America Organization’s Miss Texas pageant system during their preliminary intermissions. At 13, she began singing the National Anthem at her school’s sporting events, and it didn’t take long for other businesses and organizations to recognize and seek her amazing talents. She soon began performing at events for the Special Olympics, Texas Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House, among others.

In high school, Macy she joined her school choir and quickly learning and advancing to where she was named Texas All-State Division One state choir as a first soprano. She soon released her first album, a collection of eleven duets by famous country songwriters. She also completed a six-song EP, comprised of duets in the bluegrass and Celtic gospel songs. Through this two-volume collection, Martin’s raw talent was discovered by producer Kent Wells and Christine Winslow, who quickly began nurturing her gifts in musicianship and soon released Martin’s debut, self-titled EP.

Despite an endlessly busy schedule, Martin continues to focus on the very thing that
continues to drive her passion and career – faith and philanthropy. She uses her musical platform to give back, promoting her non-profit, Macy’s Toy Box, which collects new or gently used toys to ensure all children can share in the joy of Christmas. Macy continues to conduct herself by her motto “A toy to a child is so much more than just a toy… It’s a friend, a comfort. It’s hope.”

Macy continues to be one of our favorite unsigned artists, as reflected by her previous visit to KLAW101, and has released a brand new single from her second EP, Find My Melody, which is in our spotlight today. Macy Martin and "Heart Sleeve Soul" is our Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
