The policy known as “don’t ask, don’t tell,” which has been in place since the Clinton administration, became a thing of the past at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday when the United States became one of more than 40 countries worldwide allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the armed forces.

Marine Gets Life-Saving Transplant from Deceased Fellow Soldier [VIDEO]
Marine Sgt. Jacob Chadwick, 23, an Iraq war veteran who recently underwent a life-saving kidney transplant, received the organ from an unexpected source — 24-year-old fellow soldier Lt. Patrick Wayland.
The two men didn’t know each other, but after Wayland suffered a fatal heart attack while swimming in flight gear during training on August 1, Wayland’s family sought out the people it felt was “most deserving” of Patrick’s vital organs.

August 15, 2011 This years Operation Rising Star is being held at the Impact Zone on Fort Sill. The first night of competition was a tough one! 6 very talented representatives gave it their all. The judges had a very hard time deciding who would advance onto the semi-finals. Each contestant is required to sing 2 songs, one song from whatever genre they choose and one patriotic song.

The Pentagon has released the names of 30 American troops who were killed when a rocket-propelled grenade downed their Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan last weekend
The attack represented the biggest single day loss of military personnel America has suffered during the nearly ten-year Afghanistan war. Overall, 1648 Americans have died in the conflict.
