MacArthur vs. Lawton High

After coming off a home opener victory against the Wichita Falls Coyotes the MacArthur Highlanders then set their sights to the first of two city rivals.

First up the Lawton High Wolverines who were coming off an impressive 61-14 victory over the Eisenhower Eagles in week one.

 

The 9.500 in attendance at Cameron Stadium this past Friday night all felt that something special was about to take place no one ever dreamed how special this match up would be and the game lived up to the hype as both teams came in ranked number 5 in the state in their respective classes.

The Wolverines took the opening kickoff and found themselves out in front 7-0 in the opening quarter. After a first possession turnover in the Wolverine red zone the Highlanders bounced back and finally found themselves in the end zone with a quarterback draw from Taylor Chasteen making the game all tied up at 7.

The Wolverines scored on a big 76 yard play to go up 14-7. that's when quarterback Taylor Chasteen found his favorite target Quiniton Paras one on one in the end-zone to tie the game. 14-14 at the half.

With about a minute left in the 3rd quarter the Big Mac attack found themselves with a TJ Turner race to the end-zone to go up 21-14. Both teams held each other in check to finish out one of the best rival football games in history.

The MacArthur Highlanders go to 2-0 in the early part of the season and now prepare to collide with their final city foe from the west side the Eisenhower Eagles who dismantled Altus 35-7. A Highlander win on Friday Night would bring the Generals trophy and the City Championship back to the hill for the first time in 3 years.....Come out and support your Highlanders this week and don't forget to bring your radio with you.
