Do You Believe Aliens Exist? Most Do — Survey of the Day
While the threat of an alien invasion does not pose any immediate danger to the world as we know it, a new report suggests that a large part of the American population would not be surprised if one day it actually happened.
In fact, this recent survey commissioned by the National Geographic Channel found that 80 million Americans (or 36 percent of the population) believe in the existence of UFOs, with one in 10 respondents claiming to have personally witnessed alien aircraft.
Surprisingly, 77 percent of the American people think there is significant evidence suggesting aliens have visited Earth, while 79 percent believe that the government has kept information about UFOs a secret from the public. Many even believe (55 percent) that there are real-life ‘Men in Black’-type agents out there who shake down those people coming forward with alien claims. Incidentally, many of the survey respondents view an alien invasion to be just like those attacks witnessed in the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Independence Day.’
In a bizarre twist in the realm of war leadership, the survey also found that 65 percent of the respondents believe that if an alien invasion does in fact happen sometime over the next four years, President Obama would more likely handle the situation better than Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Although we wager that using such a platform in any presidential campaign would not gain many votes.
