Blake Shelton Wins Male Vocalist of the Year at 2012 ACM Awards
Even though he is the co-host of the 2012 ACM Awards, Blake Shelton didn’t stuff the ballot to win the Male Vocalist of the Year award. He won it because he is awesome. We’d venture to guess that some of his newly-cultivated fans from his stint on the ‘The Voice‘ voted, too.
The ‘Honey Bee’ singer was a bit flustered and didn’t have a speech prepared, but he rebounded quickly to thank his label and his manager. “I don’t know what the hell to say,” he joked. Then he quoted Dierks Bentley‘s lyrics from ‘Home’ about still having a long, hard ride. Shelton is not resting on his laurels, nor does he consider himself anywhere close to finished with what he wants to accomplish as a country star.
In typical Shelton fashion, when Taylor Swift presented him with the award, he joked “That was a real shocked face” about his own expression, alluding to Swift’s much-discussed penchant for looking incredibly surprised and bewildered (yet always adorable) when she wins and accepts an award. Which, by the way, is often. Shelton wasn’t hatin’ on Swift; he was good-naturedly joking.
