Today we feature a country artist who has seen his share of misfortune, both professionally and personally, and who is rebounded each time he has been knocked down.

The road from Lyon, GA to Nashville hasn't always been smooth for Craig Campbell. His parents divorced when he was young, leaving him often in the care of his older sister. Growing up in a strong Baptist home, he started playing piano in church when he was 10, and by high school had his own band, called Out of the Blue. Strongly influenced by traditional country music, Campbell established himself through hard work, and won several local contests while still in school.

In 2002, Campbell moved to Nashville, and began working as a backing musician, session musician and demo singer. Luke Bryan, for whom he played keyboards, encouraged Craig to start writing, while at the same time playing for Bryan, he also ended up landing a job in Tracy Byrd's band

In 2010, Camobell signed with Bigger Picture Music, releasing his first single "Family Man", which was included on his debut EP Five Spot, both released the same year. The single climbed to #14 on the country chart, which encouraged Big Picture Music enough that sent him back into the studio to finish recording his self-titled debut album, which was released in April of 2011. In addition to the debut single, the album featured the singles "Fish" and "When I Get It", which peaked at #24 and #38 respectively.

Never to be one to rest on his laurels, Campbell took a few song that were recorded during the sessions from the first album, headed back into the studio and completed a second EP, Outta My Head which was released in December of 2012. It included the title track, which went to #15 and became the lead single for his second album, 2013's Never Regret. The album also featured Campbell's highest charting single to date "Keep Them Kisses Coming" which peaked at #9.

But just as the single began to pick up momentum, Bigger Picture Music closed up its shop, leaving Campbell to personally contact radio stations himself for promotion.

Campbell pushed through the difficulties, unable to release a third single from the second album, mostly by keeping himself occupied by steadily touring in the interim. In he 2014 signed with Red Bow Records and BBR Music Group's Magic Mustang Music publishing. The singer immediately went to work on his first album for the label. The first single from the album, "Tomorrow Tonight" cracked the top-40 in 2015. The second single is in our spotlight today. Craig Campbell and "Outskirts of Heaven" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
