A tradition returns today, as we hang the first stocking by the chimney with care, bringing you a brand new Holiday Song every Friday through the joyous season.

Lucas Hoge was born and raised in the small town of Hubbell, Nebraska, about 2 hours southwest of Lincoln. Hoge began playing guitar while in high school, and as a student at the University of Nebraska, honed his playing and songwriting skills. He formed two bands while at the U of N, a Christian band called X-Treme Devotion and a rock band that called itself Southern Cross. After college, Hoge returned to Hubbell, and the small town gathered round their fledgling country music star, raising over $2500 to send him to Nashville.

After arriving in Music City, Hoge performed in small clubs in-town, expanding outward as his popularity grew, releasing his first album in 2002. After the release of his second album in 2006, he caught his big break when he was offered an appearance on Toby Keith's 2007 Christmas special, and got a chance to appear with Faith Hill in a Sunday Night Football promotion.

His love for animals led to the next big break for Hoge, as he was asked to host Animal Planets 'Last Chance Highway', an 8-part series that followed an animal rescuer, Shelly Bookwalter; Hoge also provided the series theme song.

In 2011, Hoge would meet, Natalie Fognani, who wrote a poem and whose dying wish was to see it written as a song. Hoge took the "assignment" and the result was "How Was I To Know", a song that led the singer to a nomination for best new artist from the Inspirational Country Music Awards (ICMA), and also gaining him general recognition in the Christian Country genre.

In 2016, Hoge signed was signed by Rebel Engine Entertainment, releasing the album Dirty South in June of this year, his first "major" release. Rolling Stone magazine named Hoge one of their Top-10 Artists You Need To Know for 2017, and he was named the NRA Country Artist of the Month for July.
