Women-owned Chapter & Home Brings Warmth Back To Local Reading In Lawton
Over the holidays, Lawton was gifted with another local bookstore! Chapter & Home opened on Nov. 1, 2025, in the old Johnson's Bakery location.
A lot of hearts were broken when Hastings closed in Lawton. And without many local bookstores, Lawton readers were left with few places to browse and buy books. But luckily, all that changed in 2025 with the opening of two local bookstores!
Amethyst & Ink and Chapter & Home both opened in 2025.
In August of last year, Amethyst & Ink opened in the Gore Center shopping strip on West Gore Boulevard. Then shortly following in November, Chapter & Home opened in November at the old Johnson's Bakery location, which was recently a coffee shop.
Now the historic Lawton location is home to local, women-owned bookstore that describes itself on is official Facebook page as "a cozy space where books, creativity, and connection come together — a place to gather, learn, and feel at home."
Booklovers can find books, gifts and more at Chapter & Home.

Lawton's bookstore options are slowly growing.
Thanks to the recent rise in recreational reading, more bookstores are opening, and luckily, some are coming to Lawton! It's not often that Lawton has two bookstores open in one year.
After 2025, Lawton now has more than four local bookstores in operation. Hopefully reading will continue trending and Lawton may soon see more local bookstores!
