This year has been great for new restaurants in Lawton, and it looks like 2026 is shaping up to be the year for new businesses. Lawton residents have already learned that a few businesses are set to open in town next year.

Lawton residents can look forward to Best Buy opening in the spring of 2026 and the potential of a new grocery store. Maybe as we get more into 2026, Lawton could see more shopping potential!

Best Buy planned for old Joann Fabrics location in Lawton.

It was announced this fall that Best Buy is planning to move in to the old Joann Fabrics location on 2nd Street in downtown Lawton. The company is planning to open the location in the spring of 2026.

Lawton has never had a stand-alone Best Buy location. However, Central Mall did house a Best Buy Mobile location before it closed in 2018.

New grocery store planned for 2nd Street in downtown Lawton.

In July this year, the Lawton Economic Development Trust Authority announced the sale of the land located at the corner of 2nd Street and Ferris Ave. In the agreement, the acquisition firm that purchased the land is required to use a majority of the lot for a full-service grocery store.

It hasn't been announced yet what specific grocery store will be built on the lot, but Lawton residents already have their dream grocery stores in mind, including H-E-B, United Supermarkets Market Street and Sprouts.
