When Central Mall was in its heyday, the mall housed a Best Buy Mobile. But in 2018, Best Buy closed all of its standalone mobile stores, including the one in Lawton Central Mall. Now Lawton residents can welcome back Best Buy as a new location has been confirmed.

In an article in The Lawton Constitution on Sunday, Sept. 21, the owner of the Lawton Town Center on NW 2nd Street confirmed that Best Buy would soon occupy the former JOANN Fabrics storefront at 449 NW 2nd Street.

Lawton residents posted to a local Facebook group, the Lawton Grapevine, about the store coming to Lawton. In the comments, Lawton residents voiced their excitement and disappointments with Best Buy coming to Lawton.

Some commenters were happy to hear that Lawton would be getting a store rather than a restaurant. Others have hopes for different chain stores, like Barns & Nobles, Home Goods and Sprout's.

Best Buy is expected to open in Lawton by spring of 2026.

In the article from The Lawton Constitution, the owner of Lawton Town Center stated that Best Buy was eager to open a store in Lawton after the JOANN Fabrics location became available.

Currently, Best Buy has few locations close to Lawton. Best Buy has three locations in Oklahoma City and one in Wichita Falls, Texas. The Lawton location is expected to open in spring of 2026.
