Cooler Temps On the Way for Oklahoma After More Extreme Heat and Severe Weather

It's been a long time since we've seen green grass during July in Oklahoma! Even with the extreme heat the grass is still a beautiful shade of green. And without saying, it's because this has been a very wet summer. We'll have another day (Friday, July 14) of extreme heat and severe weather before we cool down for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, severe storms are expected to enter northern Oklahoma late Friday night and progress southward through the early hours of Saturday. The main hazards with these storms include damaging wind gusts, large hail and flash flooding.

Storms could start as early as 5 p.m. Friday in northern Oklahoma, but they're most likely to enter Oklahoma between 7-10 p.m. And us down here in southwest Oklahoma might not see storms till after midnight.

It's hot. But not for long.

With the storms this evening, a cold front will come through! But today is still a day for extreme heat. Areas of Oklahoma could see temperatures over 100 degrees. Again.

But with this cold front, we should have nice weather for the weekend. Temperatures will drop back down into the high 80s or low 90s and overnight temperatures will be in the 70s. But when we move into next week, we'll be right back into the 100s. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of Oklahoma's hot and humid summer.
