The Oklahoma Food Truck Championship Is Coming Up
While not yet mainstream in Oklahoma, food truck culture is a quickly growing segment of fast-casual dining in modern life. It's also a great way for someone to bust into the restaurant scene, but not all are created equal.
Luckily there are fans out there that understand there should be only one "Best Food Truck In Oklahoma," and they're putting a championship competition together to name a single victor.
This year's Food Truck Championship will take place once again in Chickasha.
While some people hold reservations about eating out of a truck, put your mind at ease. It's a mobile kitchen where you can often find better and different foods often cheaper than in your regular haunts. The fact that they're so much smaller than brick-and-mortar eateries also makes me think they're probably cleaner too. That's just my opinion, but I have a love affair with food trucks.
Hailing from a small town in Northern Oklahoma, we didn't have food trucks. Our only choices were El Chico, a terrible steak place, and Perkin's (country IHOP). When I moved to Corpus Christi and spent my Sundays napping on Padre Island, I stumbled across a taco truck that gave you three fish/shrimp tacos and a can of beer for $4. The menu changed throughout the day, depending on what the people on the peer were catching. The whole thing just made sense.
As the food truck culture grows in Oklahoma, primarily in the places where youth is the majority, it's only natural we would collectively pit them against each other. You get to sample the best Oklahoma has to offer and they get to win $10,000 in cash prizes. It's a win-win.
The Oklahoma Food Truck Championship is October 1st in downtown Chickasha, here's a link to the event page of facebook.
