You may or may not have heard the news that starting today (01-18-22) you'll be able to request up to 4 free COVID-19 "at-home" tests from the Federal Government. Testing has increased over the past several months due to the new COVID-19 Omicron variant. People are having to get tested more frequently because the virus has continued to spread and is infecting both the unvaccinated and vaccinated. Evidently, the new variant (Omicron) is more contagious and spreads much quicker than the other strains did. Health experts advise testing regularly, especially after exposure or when showing COVID-19 symptoms as a precaution.
So how do you order these free tests? It's super simple, all you have to do is visit www.covidtest.gov to place an order. Every home in the U.S. is able to order 4 free "at-home" COVID-19 tests. Click here to go directly to the order site and online form. Just fill out the form and you'll receive your free testing, usually within 7 to 12 days. You can also order directly from USPS (United States Postal Service) by visiting their official website.
Along with receiving free tests if you have private insurance you can also get reimbursed for COVID-19 testing and purchasing tests as well. You can click here to get all the details. Just contact your insurance provider and ask about your coverage to see if you'll need to submit receipts or if it's automatically covered by your policy at the time of purchase. Also, you won't need a doctor's order or prescription to buy tests, insurance has to cover 8 tests per month, per person on the policy. What about Medicare? That's also addressed on the www.covidtests.gov website, click here for all the information.
