National Couples Day Date Ideas for Lawton

Today is National Couples Day!

In just under 2 months, I will be celebrating my 2nd wedding anniversary. After a decade and a half of being spectacularly single, coupling up at my age was a huge adjustment. Not one that I regret at all. I'm most happy at home with my new love.

But, there is a huge difference between being a couple later in life and being a couple when I was young.

First, I don't have children living at home. I don't have to spend most of my at-home hours cleaning up after and feeding children. That takes a huge weight off of the relationship picture. I can pretty much do what I want; cook when I want, do laundry when I want, lay around on the couch when I want..., you get the picture. It's almost like there are no rules!

And being an older couple, we have discretionary income. Money to burn baby. If we decide that we want to take off on a weekend and say, head to Waco to visit the Silos, we can. And we have.

I think that's the great thing about being a couple after 50. We appreciate what we have so much more. I love being a homebody and decorating for every season, and my hubs humors me. Because we both work hard, the time we spend at home together is so special. In a place that we worked so hard for.

As we look forward to anniversary number 2, there is no one that I would rather spend my time with than my other half. (Except maybe my Sister LOL, but that's a whole different story!)
