The Man Who Voiced Donald Duck Was From Oklahoma, Who Knew?

Did you know that the man who voiced Donald Duck was from Oklahoma? That's right, one of the most beloved and recognizable Walt Disney characters of all time is actually an Okie. Or at least his voice is.

Clarence Nash was born in Watonga, OK. in 1904. From the beginning, his ability to create unusual voices and sound effects was well-known. He eventually became one of the most legendary voices of all time.

He grew up on a farm in rural Oklahoma but had bigger plans, much bigger plans. As a teenager, he quit school and hit the road joining a vaudeville act touring the states. Later he moved to San Francisco, CA.

At this time Nash started doing radio commercials and voice acting, using his unique talents to bring to life all kinds of colorful characters. He would eventually audition for Walt Disney and land his dream job.

Clarence Nash was not only the voice for Donald Duck he also voiced Huey, Duey, Louie, and even Daisy. He's also credited with other characters and appearances like the kitten Figaro in Pinocchio and several others.

In total, he provided the voice of Donald Duck for 51 years, in over 120 shorts and films. His first was 'The Wise Little Hen' in 1934 and his last was 'Mickey's Christmas Carol' in 1983. Sadly he passed away in 1985.

In his hometown of Watonga, OK. they've named a street after him in his honor. He was also posthumously awarded the Disney Legend Award and inducted into the Disney Hall of Fame for all his incredible work.
