It's not a top 10 list you really want to be on that's for sure. A recent study was conducted to discover the trashiest towns in the Nation. Sadly there's a city in Oklahoma that's listed in the top 10 trashiest towns.

The study used several different factors and criteria in determining and ranking various U.S. cities and towns' degree of trashiness. Things like pollution, living conditions, infrastructure, and consumer satisfaction.

Of course, the population has a lot to do with this. Obviously, the more people you have in one area the more pollution, trash, and infrastructure erosion take place. That's just the way it works, not that it's an excuse.

So what town or city made the dreadful top 10 list of the Nation's trashiest cities? Believe it or not, it's Oklahoma City, OK. According to the study released by LawnStarter.com OKC ranks at #9 in the U.S.

Like any other large U.S. city, OKC has its fair share of places you don't want to go. Plus due to its population of course there's more trash and pollution. Personally, I think there are more positive than negative factors.

I never considered Oklahoma city to be trashy, but to be fair I've rarely ventured past all the usual stops and touristy places to visit. So maybe there are some areas of OKC that belong on this top 10 list of trashy towns.

The study also uncovered that Oklahoma City, OK. ranks in the top 5 of U.S. cities with the most greenhouse gas emissions per capita. We have 2 cities in the Sooner State on that list, Tulsa, OK. is ranked at #4.

According to the LawnStarter.com study Oklahoma City, OK. had an overall score of 46.51 a pollution score of 5 a living conditions score of 25, and the infrastructure score was 8. Click here for the complete study.

Keep in mind that the study only focused on 150 of the largest cities in the U.S. so that's not to say some other town in Oklahoma isn't dirtier or trashier. I'm sure we've all seen worse driving the back roads in OK.

The complete study lists the top 50 dirtiness cities in the Nation and it looks like Oklahoma has 2 cities on the list. Both Oklahoma City and Tulsa. OKC was ranked at #9 and Tulsa was ranked #22 on the list.

In my honest humble non-biased option Tulsa looks worse than Oklahoma City, at least what I've seen of it. But honestly, neither town is that bad, especially when you consider how many people live in these cities.

Top 10 safest towns & cities in Oklahoma

These 10 Oklahoma towns and cities have been ranked and named as the safest in the entire Sooner State. If you're looking for someplace to move, retire or visit and are worried about crime, these are the safest places. They have some of the lowest crime rates in the state, some have the lowest in the Nation according to FBI crime statistics. Most of the cities and towns that made the top 10 safest places year are located in the southwest central portion of the state. One town made it to the top of the list at #1 for its 5th or 6th time.
