Jelly Roll is releasing a new album, Beautifully Broken, on Friday (Oct. 11), and ahead of the project, the star stopped by Taste of Country Nights to chat about the inspiration behind it.

It turns out, ideas were really churning — Jelly wrote a whopping 150 songs for the project!

"There's a lot of storytelling on this album. I wrote a probably hundred and some songs last year, maybe 150 plus, trying to figure this album out," he says.

He couldn't do it without his "Bad Apples" — his fans — though. Jelly says they're the secret sauce to everything he does, and all of the songs he wrote for the Beautifully Broken album — every single one — was inspired by fans.

"I've never been so inspired, though. I was getting so many stories," he explains. "People were pouring into me. I'm at gas stations and red carpets and I'm hearing life stories from people — really inspiring stories."

"I've never wrote more," he admits.

No doubt Jelly had his work cut out to whittle down 150-plus songs to only album's worth. Apple Music seems to suggest the project has 22 songs.

As another thank you to fans, Jelly Roll is currently on his Beautifully Broken Tour, with dates running through the end of the year.
