Earl Thomas Conley began his career writing songs in Nashville, for other artists.

When he didn't achieve success on his own, he went to work in a steel mill.  But he continued his dream of being a country music artist. That dream paid off in 1981 as he scored the very first #1 in a string of 18. Here's ETC with 'Fire and Smoke', your KLAW Classic.
