
Lawton Aquatics Center Will Close For the Season On September 26
It was fun while it lasted! The City of Lawton announced today, Thursday, August 28, that the Lawton Aquatics Center would end its first season on Friday, September 26. After multiple delays, the Lawton Aquatics Center first opened on August 16 and was set to be open as long as the weather would allow.
Oklahoma residents have rejoiced in the early fall weather to end the month of August, but it looks like those cooler temperatures may be sticking around through the first of September. So Lawton residents have a few more weeks to take advantage of the comfortable temperatures and check out the Lawton Aquatics Center!
In a Facebook post, the City of Lawton announced that the Lawton Aquatics Center would be closing for its first season on Saturday, September 26, weather permitting. In the post, the City of Lawton indicated that short season gave city officials the opportunity to "test operations, train staff and learn what works best."

The Lawton Aquatics Center will be open daily through September 26.
Through September 26, the Lawton Aquatics Center will have the following hours of operation:
- 4-7 p.m. Monday-Friday
- Noon to 8 p.m. Saturday
- Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday
The City of Lawton has not provided an official opening date for the Lawton Aquatics Center next year. In the past, the City of Lawton has typically opened its wading pools and splash pads on Memorial Day weekend.
The Lawton Aquatics Center is currently the newest water-based attraction in town. The City of Lawton is currently working on the construction of two more splash pads: one at the former Kids Zone on 38th Street and one at the park on 67th Street.
