Lawton has seen a reading renaissance over the past year with the opening of two new bookstores. And residents have always looked forward to the annual Friends of the Lawton Public Library Book Sale. Now Lawton has a new book sale to support another local good cause - the Lawton Food Bank.

Starting today, Wednesday, April 29, Arvest Bank at 4330 NW Cache Road will host a book sale with proceeds benefitting the Lawton Food Bank.

Arvest Bank will over wide variety of books for sale benefitting the Lawton Food Bank.

The book sale for the Lawton Food Bank will take place through Friday, May 1 at Arvest Bank. Residents can shop the book sale while the bank is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

Books will be $3 for one or $10 for four. All proceeds will go to benefit the Lawton Food Bank. Shoppers will also be able to enjoy complimentary tea and coffee.

The Lawton Food Bank serves over 1,000 families every month.

On average, the Lawton Food Bank serves 1,320 families each month. Last year during the government shutdown, residents in Lawton needed assistance from the Lawton Food Bank like never before. The Lawton Food Bank hosted special food drives for military families and those affected by the government shutdown.

So whether Lawton families rely on the Lawton Food Bank every month or during times of unexpected distress, the food bank will only be able to provide services to those in need as long as it's supported. And a simple way to support the Lawton Food Bank this week is by buying a book during the sale at Arvest Bank.
