For the past day and a half we have been collecting donations from the community for the victims of the devastating tornado that hit Moore, Oklahoma on Monday afternoon, May 20th.  We set up in the Sams Club parking lot on Sheridan Road and hit the airwaves asking for your donations. Our community came through with flying colors! We were able to raise $6,000 in cash donations and filled FIVE trucks with items that were donated to help those that lost everything and those that responded to the call for help.

There were many many heart warming stories that were shared from people of all ages and walks of life. From the companies that gathered donations from their employees to the elementary schools that raised money to purchase supplies all the way to the small child that brought a bag full of their favorite toys so that some small child that lost everything could have some fun toys to play with. I had chill bumps all day long. We cried, we hugged, we celebrated and we cheered as the donations continued to pour in.

We want to take a moment to thank all of those that donated their time to help us. If I have missed your name it is because I didn't get the opportunity to write everyone's name down and I apologize if I've missed you. Know that we are so grateful for everything that everyone did.

If you still want to help there are several ways. Probably the BEST thing you could do is donate money.
You can donate several ways. You can write a check to "Oklahoma Relief - Red Cross" and mail it to American Red Cross, Great Plains Chapter, 6 SW Lee Blvd., Lawton, OK 73501. By writing "Oklahoma Relief" in the payee section of your check it will ensure that the money stays in our state.
You can donate by testing "REDCROSS" to 90999. A $10 donation will be added to your phone bill.
If you would like to donate ITEMS please take them to the local Goodwill or Salvation Army. They are accepting donations and sorting them and sending them to Moore and Carney.
As we all said during these past two days - THIS is why we do what we do and why we love our jobs!
THANK YOU!
