Cooler Days Ahead: Oklahoma’s Weather Takes A Turn
Summer may be just around the corner, but it looks like May will start off with a cold front in Oklahoma! Most of Oklahoma can expect below average temperatures through the second full week of May.
Local meteorologists are expecting a strong cold front to move through the southern part of the United States sometime next week. Low temperatures could be in the 50s throughout Oklahoma. The cold front could move in as early as Sunday and is expected to continue through the first half of May.
According to KFOR Chief Meteorologist Mike Morgan, a jet stream "omega block" pattern will set up this weekend. He stated on his official Facebook page that the cold front will bring in "simply fabulous weather" with lots of cool temperatures and little wind. Sounds like it will be perfect patio weather in Oklahoma! This will definitely be welcomed after a week of severe storms and flooding.
The NWS Climate Predication Center is also confirming the anticipated cooler temperatures for Oklahoma. The NOAA's six to 10 day temperature outlook has a majority of Oklahoma experiencing below average temperatures for May 7-11.
And the NOAA's eight to 14 day outlook expects pretty much all of Oklahoma to have below average temperatures May 9-15.

Rain expected to return to Oklahoma next week.
Oklahoma will have a nice break from the storms on Saturday and Sunday. But the rain and thunderstorms are expected to return Monday, May 5 and continue into the week. So this weekend will be a good time to clean up yards and clear out cellars before the next round of rain and storms move in!
