Oklahoma was hit with several severe storms the evening of Thursday, August 15, and more severe storms are expected again Friday, August 16. The previous storms caused significant damage to various communities across Oklahoma and left thousands without power during dangerous heat.

On Thursday, several storms across Oklahoma brought in over 70 miles per hour wind gusts, rain and hail.

Some areas experienced damage from the storms.

Wind gusts, heavy rain and hail are expected Friday, August 16.

Oklahoma could see the same severe weather storms on Friday. The National Weather Service in Norman is expecting severe hazards like damaging downburst win gusts, large hail and locally heavy rainfall.

Storms are expected to begin in northern Oklahoma and move southeast. Storms are expected to decrease after 2 a.m. Saturday, August 17.

More heat this weekend but cooler temperatures are on the way.

Oklahoma will have two more days of dangerous heat this weekend, but a cold front is expected to bring some relief.
