If you haven't figured it out yet, those whipping Oklahoma winds usually signal good odds for big rains and severe weather. After a weekend where the winds wouldn't quit, you'd expect more in the forecast, but it's relatively quiet if not for a few small chances of big weather.

Monday, April 10th is a day we're not worried about in Southwest Oklahoma. There is a chance of rain, but the severe threats are far off to our East, mainly affecting the I-35 corridor.

Looking at the predictions currently on the map, you wouldn't necessarily expect anything to be in store for Lawton, but the most curious thing about Oklahoma's weather is, it gives zero warning. While the tornado and hail threat is low, it's not zero.

The biggest threat we'll likely see this week is even more fire-danger weather. High winds, dry conditions... With all that fuel on the ground and ample amounts of unwavering wind to spread it far and wide, we're not out of the stove just yet.

The closer we get to May, the bigger and bigger these severe weather threats will likely become. While the worst weather that spring can offer happens from March through June, May is the month nature seems to be working overtime in our part of the country.

On the plus side, lots of storms mean lots of rain. As everything finally greens up, restrictions will ease and you might be able to finally use that fire pit in your backyard soon.
