After securing their first NBA Champions title, the Oklahoma City Thunder can now look forward to a brand new arena in 2028. During his State of the City address, Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt revealed the official architectural designs for the Oklahoma City New Arena.

According to a press release, the Oklahoma City New Arena is set to be "a first-class, state-of-the-art NBA arena and entertainment venue." The arena will feature a 360-degree glass curtain wall with a panoramic view of all interior concourses. The interior is prioritized for basketball with optimized site lines. And the west-facing main entrance will feature Thunder Alley.

The Oklahoma City New Arena was designed by MANICA Architecture with TVS as the architect of record. The new arena is set to open in late summer of 2028.

Oklahoma City New Arena set to be a 'signature building' for downtown Oklahoma City.

In his address, Mayor Holt state that the new arena is intended secure a future with the Oklahoma City Thunder and to offer a competitive concert venue, but he said there is also a secondary reason.

"One of those other benefits is the opportunity to raise the aesthetic bar in our downtown and to make an architectural statement," Holt said. "This arena has the potential to become a signature building for our city, known around the world. I believe this design absolutely seizes that opportunity, and I am grateful to David Manica and his colleagues, as well as the Thunder and everyone who has been a part of this process the last few months. This arena design truly is one of one."

Thunder Chairman Clay Bennett also stated the designs are step forward in the creation of a "unique and transformative downtown landmark."

"We are incredibly grateful to Mayor Holt for his leadership and to David Manica and his team," Bennett said, "who have done a remarkable job capturing our vision for an arena that elevates the spirit of competition, celebrates the values of our community, and strengthens Oklahoma City's local and global identity."
