Oklahoma Will See Above Average Temperatures This Week
Oklahomans have spent the first part of December bundled up and with the heaters cranked high. But it looks like this week Oklahoma will see daytime and overnight temperatures well above average.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, Tuesday, Dec. 9 will be the coldest day this week thanks to a cold front that will move in Monday evening. Tuesday will see daytime highs in the low 50s and overnight lows in the 30s.
After Tuesday, daytime highs and overnight lows will begin to slowly increase well above average. By Friday, various areas of Oklahoma could see daytime highs reach over 60 degrees and overnight lows in the high 30s and lower 40s.
Rain chances could increase on Friday in southeast Oklahoma.
Rain has been hard to come by this December. Everywhere but southeast Oklahoma hasn't seen much rain this month. Not much rain is in this week's forecast, but it looks like southeast Oklahoma could see a chance for showers and storms on Friday.
Most of Oklahoma hasn't seen rain in 20 days.
Last month was one of the wettest Novembers on record for Oklahoma. The amount of moisture that the state received during that month helped ease the drought significantly. But since there hasn't been much rain lately, the drought could increase. But, luckily, according to the Oklahoma Mesonet, it hasn't been exceptionally warm lately which has helped the soil retain its moisture.
