Here’s The Official Christmas Forecast for Oklahoma
Meteorologists across Oklahoma were having a hard time this month pinning down Oklahoma's Christmas forecast. Some radars were indicating cool weather and winter precipitation, while others were leaning towards mild and dry conditions. Now that we're a few days away from Christmas, Oklahomans can now be more confident in the weather predictions for the holiday.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, the last weekend of holiday shopping in Oklahoma will be dry, cool and sunny - the perfect weather for getting last minute gifts! But when we get even closer to Christmas, rain is expected to return to Oklahoma.
Eastern Oklahoma has a strong chance for rain and thunderstorms on Monday, Dec. 23. A Pacific system will move into Oklahoma that will bring rain to east of I-35. A second Pacific system will move into Oklahoma the evening of Christmas Eve and into Christmas Day. But during the day on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Oklahoma is expected to remain cloudy and overcast.
As for the temperatures on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Oklahoma will be chilly in the morning, south winds will pick up in the afternoon and bring temperatures into the high 50s.
No white Christmas for Oklahoma.
For those in Oklahoma who were hoping for a white Christmas, they will be disappointed. A white Christmas is not expected for Oklahoma this year. And unfortunately, that's pretty on par for Oklahoma. It has actually been 10 years since Oklahoma has had a white Christmas!
