Oklahoma May See Snow, Record High Temps and Thunderstorms This Week
It's not even officially spring yet and Oklahoma is already having a wild mix of weather to close out February.
The first official day of spring is March 19, and with spring comes unpredictable weather in Oklahoma. But even though we're technically still in winter, Oklahoma will see spring-like weather patterns this week.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, Oklahoma will have a few days of May-like temperatures before a cold front moves in.
Gusty southwest winds will move into Oklahoma late Monday and into Tuesday, coupled with low humidity and warmer than average temperatures, most of Oklahoma will have an increased risk for wildfires.
When will temperatures drop?
A cold front is expected to move through Wednesday, which will take Oklahoma back into average temperatures for this time of year. Oklahomans will wake up Wednesday morning with temperatures below freezing.
Will Oklahoma receive snow?
Some areas of Oklahoma could see a rain/snow mix Thursday morning as the cold front settles in. Specifically those Okies in northwest Oklahoma.
As we move into the weekend, the risk for wildfires will continue to be elevated. Storms could move into Oklahoma on Sunday.
