More severe weather is headed to Oklahoma for Wednesday, May 1. Southern Oklahoma was pounded by severe weather and tornadoes last weekend. And western and southwest Oklahoma ended April with multiple tornadoes. With the latest forecast, it doesn't look like severe weather will be slowing down in Oklahoma anytime soon.

Local meteorologists are urging Oklahomans to continue to remain weather aware this week as more rounds of severe weather, including tornadoes, is expected for the first days of May.

Wednesday, May 1 Severe Weather Potential

Western and southern Oklahoma will not have much time to recoup as more severe weather is anticipated for that area Wednesday, May 1. According to the National Weather Service in Norman, multiple severe thunderstorms are expected from late Wednesday afternoon, into the evening hours and through Thursday morning.

Large hail and damaging winds are expected, along with a low tornado risk. And if residents of Oklahoma learned anything from Tuesday, April 30, they'll know that "low risk" doesn't mean zero.

Storms are expected to move north-north east after starting in the Texas panhandle. Other areas of Oklahoma are expected to see severe weather, but not at as high of a risk for those in western and southwest Oklahoma.

Storms are most likely to enter western and southwest Oklahoma from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and ending by 1 a.m. Thursday. As the storms move north-northeast, the rest of Oklahoma are most likely to see storms 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday and ending by 5 a.m.
