Open Streets 2019

It's a beautiful day in downtown Lawton and Mother Nature is finally giving us a break! Open Streets 2019 has officially started and will be going on until 2:00pm this afternoon.

We're set up on C Ave in front of the Central Mall from 2nd to 5th street. There's all kinds of fun games for the kids the food trucks are here, tons of vendors and the downtown merchants are open for shopping.

As good as the weather is don't let this opportunity pass you by, get out and enjoy a great afternoon and be a part of Open Streets 2019.

Open streets is a concept that turns city streets into a temporary public park with activities for the whole family to get people moving.

These events are increasingly common in cities seeking innovative ways to achieve environmental, social, economic, and public health goals by temporarily closing streets to automobile traffic, so that people may use them for walking, fitness classes, bicycling, dancing, playing, and socializing.
