Residents in the Pecan Creek area between Lawton and Cache were woken up early Wednesday by fireworks, but not because neighbors were shooting them off. A fireworks stand was set ablaze overnight, and by the afternoon, the Pecan Creek Volunteer Fire Department confirmed the fire was started by arson.

The fireworks stand was located at the corner of NW Deyo Mission Road and US HWY 62. The Pecan Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to the stand at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24. When they arrived, the stand was on fire and fireworks from within the stand were being set off.

Pecan Creek Volunteer Fire Department determined the fireworks stand was set on fire by arson.

Around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Pecan Creek Fire Department posted an update to the incident on the department's official Facebook page. The department stated that the fireworks stand fire was an arson case, and asked the community for any information the public may have regarding the incident.

According to the department's Facebook post, the fireworks stand was owned and operated by a firefighter with the department and a member of the Pecan Creek community.
