The new Pope. People all over the world adore him. They are coming to Rome in droves to attend his weekly Mass and Blessing at St. Peters square.  Naturally, something will not go according to plan. Yesterday during Mass, the pope was praying for peace for Ukraine. Then, two white doves were released by children standing alongside Pope Francis. Within seconds, the doves were attacked by other birds. As tens of thousands of people watched, a seagull and a large black crow swept down with no warning.

The Pope and the children also watched from the Papal Palace window as the birds fought off their attackers. One dove lost some feathers as it broke free from the gull. But the crow pecked repeatedly at the other dove. It was not clear what happened to the doves as they flew off.
