Here comes the snow!

According to the National Weather in Norman, Oklahoma could see some light snow occur over western Oklahoma the morning of Thursday, Feb. 29. These areas include all the way from Woodward down to south of Lawton. But the snow possibilities will stay west of I-44.

No accumulation is expected. As the system moves east of I-44 through mid-day Thursday, it will transition to light rain. Temperatures are expected to stay in the upper 40s.

Fire weather will continue into the weekend.

This week has been one for wildfires in Texas and Oklahoma. Fire danger was at critical levels early this week due to dry conditions and high winds. A wildfire was sparked in the Texas panhandle on Tuesday and quickly began to burn into Oklahoma.

The cool air that came in Tuesday evening helped some. And today (Wednesday, Feb. 28) fire danger is low but it will jump back up into the critical levels for the weekend.

Back to summer-like temperatures for the weekend!

Those fire danger levels will rise because Oklahoma will return to summer-like temperatures for the weekend. Highs will top out in the low 80s while overnight lows will be in the upper 40s and mid-50s. Another cold front is expected to move in Sunday with a possible round of storms.
