The "Rocky Horror Picture Show," starring Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon, first premiered in 1975. It was not celebrated when it was first released but over the years it has become a cult classic. As part of the 50th anniversary, a newly restored 4K version of the film will be released in theaters and Blu-ray. Screenings of the new 4K version of the film will hit local theaters in October. Lawton's VASKA Theatre has not indicated that the theater will be showing the new 4K version or not.
The 4K restoration of the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" was conducted by the Walt Disney Studios Restoration team and took 10 months to complete. The 4K version features a newly mixed Dolby Atmos audio track and the film's original mono audio has been fully restored.
