There has been quite a few incidents lately regarding police involved shootings. And while no one is above the law, in many instances officers have acted in self defense, only to find themselves once again in the line of fire, in the press and in the court of public opinion.

While as with any profession, there are bad apples that spoil the whole batch, but in my dealings (and yes, I have been on both sides of the law), I have found that most cops are just doing their job like the rest of us. It just happens to be a dangerous, thankless job, that almost all of the rest of us prefer that someone else do. The men and women behind the badge kiss their husbands and wives, sons and daughters goodbye every night and day, not knowing for certain whether or not it will be the last time.

I found this video on line earlier, and felt it needed to be shared. It gives those that have never walked in their shoes a look at what peace officers face, day in and day out. For these brave men and women I offer my unqualified thank you. For my friends on both the Lawton and Laughlin, NV Police Departments, for my brother C.J. and my son Zac, both of whom are law enforcement officers in Arizona, and for every man and woman behind a badge everywhere, I offer my thanks, my hopes that your next shift is a quiet one and my prayers that you will return to your loved ones after every shift.
