Black Friday is coming up, but Stop & Shop Local is encouraging Lawton residents to skip it and shop local instead on Saturday, November 29. This year will be eighth annual Stop & Shop Local event in Lawton.

This year's Stop & Shop Local theme is Winter Wonderland and will feature over 80 small businesses from across southwest Oklahoma. The shopping event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Lawton.

Proceeds from Stop & Shop Local will go to the Lawton Food Bank.

Entry for Stop & Shop Local will be $2, and proceeds from the event will go to the Lawton Food Bank. The food bank was struck hard this year with funding cuts, an influx of those in need due to the government shutdown and then the holidays.

Stop & Shop Local will also be donating funds from its raffles to the Lawton Food Bank. And shoppers can also donate nonperishable food items at the event.

So on Saturday, you can shop for Christmas gifts and help out a local nonprofit!
