"Twisters" not only took movie theaters by storm in Oklahoma, but across the globe! The movie filmed in Oklahoma was a summer blockbuster hit, and it noticeably increased people's interest in storm chasing.

All across the internet people were posting about the film inspired them to start chasing. This was no surprise though because a lot of professional meteorologists and storm chasers today were inspired by the 1996 film "Twister," which was also filmed in Oklahoma.

While preparing for the film and during filming, the cast spent a lot of time with real professional storm chasers - they even went on real storm chasing adventures themselves.

Storm chasing can be dangerous if you're not trained properly.

In the film, the cast of "Twisters" portrays storm chasers on the hunt for tornadoes during a historic tornado outbreak in Oklahoma. The movie depicts professional storm chasers as well as amateurs, storm-obsessed locals and tornado tourists.

And with the possibility of a second severe weather this season for fall in Oklahoma, it looks like professional storm chasers and meteorologists are concerned about an influx of amateur storm chasers in the state.

This can be dangerous as it can make the roadways congested and hindering the professional storm chasers from doing their jobs. But it is also life-threatening as storms are unpredictable, and if not trained properly to chase storms, you can wind up in real danger.
