STORY WALK LAUNCH PARTY @ Lawton Public Library: Lawton, Oklahoma.   Help the library kick off the StoryWalk® at Elmer Thomas Park!

Plan to stop by Elmer Thomas Park, June 20, from 10:00am -1:00pm to help the library officially open the StoryWalk®.

StoryWalks® have been installed in 50 states and 12 countries. The Elmer Thomas StoryWalk® has been in the works since 2019 when the library applied for and received a Health Literacy grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries. “The goal of the project is to promote physical activity by walking, and literacy by reading the story”. “It’s a great way for adults, kids and families to get out and get active”, said Tanya Organ, Youth Services Librarian. As you stroll along the walking trail you are directed to the next page in the story. Stories will be changed out two to three times per year.

The launch party starts on the corner of 3rd and Ferris and is a Come & Go event. Stop by to grab a treat and enter for a chance to win a gift basket while enjoying the walk and the story “The Wonky Donkey, by Craig Smith.
