You didn't think the refuge was the only wild place in Oklahoma did you? There are a ton of places across this state worth the drive to see stuff you just can't see anywhere else. Whether you head East from Lawton to check out the Arbuckle Wilderness and now famed Wynnewood Zoo... Or if you're looking to see buffalo like you just can't see here in SWOK, head North to the Tallgrass Prairie in Pawhuska or the ultimate Oklahoma destination, the Woolaroc Nature Preserve and Museum. It is home of to the richest collection of early Oklahoma life.

Located in between Bartlesville and Tulsa, it takes most people a couple of hours to see the sights and walk through the Woolaroc Museum. (Pro-Tip: People up North just call it Woolaroc... Not "The Woolaroc Museum." You say Woolaroc, they know what you're looking for) Some of the more wondrous exhibits are the cowboy guns on display, dating back to when Oklahoma was still just a territory, with lots of history prior to the famous 1889 Oklahoma Land Run.

Fun Fact: Oklahoma didn't just have one land run... We've had seven.

If you didn't get to have that Summer vacation and want to treat the kiddos or just the spouse to a little getaway, Northern Oklahoma isn't far, and the stuff you'll see and experience is second to none. Even the drive up through Oklahoma's hill country is pretty amazing. You'll know you're East of I-35 when the plains end and all you can see is trees. If you'd rather find another, perhaps closer place to visit, you should plan your next trip at TravelOK.com.
